This research aim to (1) find out the condition of  coastal area of Merauke Regency, and (2) arrange the mangement strategy of coastal area of Merauke Regency. This research was carried out the coastal area of Merauke Regency.  The method used was descriptive qualitative analysis. The primary data were obtained throught direct observation, interview, and questionnare, while the secondary data were collected through llibrary research and obtained from related institutions, goverment, and agencies.  The suporting data were charts, general condition of research locations, weather, and other.  A’WOT method which was the combination of AHP (analytical hierarchy process) and SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) were used to determine alternative guidance of policy strategies. The results show that to achieve the management policy by Local Government of Merauke Regency has not shown result which are positive, haves the character of sectoral and less integrated. To reach management of going concern Merauke Regency coastal area, it is necessary to implementation strategy guidance involving  on strategy  that need to be done is the reinforcement of conservation program bases on public (0,70) the Improvement of stakeholders roles (0,65), the Improvement of participation of public in conservation of coastal area (0,60), the Improvement of quality of coastal area public SDM (0,50), the Improvement of enableness public economics around coastal area (0,45), and the Improvement of law and institution (0,40).

Abstract

The research objective is to analyze the influence of factors of production and farm income on rice and corn crops. The study was conducted in the District Semangga, Merauke Regency, Papua Province. The reaserch method used is descriptive analitycal method, with 47 respondentsin the sample taken at random sample. Data were analyzed with analysis of farm and cron crops Cobb-Duglas Function. Based on the research results can be concluded that the factors of production that significantly affect the production of rice seed production is a factor of 68,2%, and fertilizer production factor of 34,6%. While the factors of production that do not significantly affect the production factor labor by factor of 13,4% and pesticides production by 0,4%. On farm corn production factors that significantly affect seed production is a factor of 84,7%, and pesticides factor of 15,2%. While the fertilizer factor of 11,6% and employment by 5,8% did not significantly affect the production of corn farming. Revenues for the farming of corn is greater than the income rice farming. Corn farmers who are farming income is Rp. 25.847.097.40 and rice farming is Rp. 6.449.494.40. when farmers are seeking the two together in a single family income of Rp. 32.296.591.80 during the planting period.

Abstract

Increased imports of oil and world oil prices expected to encourage the use of biodiesel as an alternative source of solar energy and fuel. Bio-diesel is one option to be used as an oil substitute energy sources. Bio-diesel can be made from biological sources or biomass, such as jatropha. Problems encountered in the development of distance is the lack of understanding of plant cultivation for farmers, especially in terms of pruning the plants. Pruning aims to establish a framework of generative growth of vegetative growth towards a more productive so that the amount of fruit obtained per plant more and more productive. The experiment was conducted at Gowa regency Parangloe which lasted from Marth until June 2009. The results showed that the treatment plant pruning distance effect on the number of branches, number of panicle, number of fruits per panicle, number of fruit per plant, number of fruit per plot, number of ripe fruit, seed number per fruit, weight of 100 grains of jatropha, dry weight and specific leaf area. Trimming by leaving 35 cm distance of the plant canopy growth and production yield a better distance than the pruning that leaves 25 cm and 15 cm distance of the plant canopy. Trimming by leaving 35 cm of the plant canopy distance produces the highest number of fruit harvested at 52 992 grams per plant. Correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between growth, production and plant physiology aspects of the distance.

Abstract

The type of research used in this study is descriptive type (survey research) while the analytical method is descriptive. Samples for the population of farmers receiving five priority programs of agricultural sector development is taken by using a random method (sample sampling random), namely population has an equal opportunity to serve as the study sample. To calculate the number of samples using the Slovin formula Umar (1999:161) that uses critical value of 0,1 which is composed of 89 respondents. Data obtained from the investigators will be analized by using analysis of GEP. From the research results can be concluded that the direst did program improved seed (DAPIS) and integrated Crop Management Field School (ICMFS) funded by the state budget funds amounting to Rp. 405.352.700., program agricultural equipment and machinery that have been implemented in the last five years funded the state budget funds amounting to Rp. 27 million, Rp. 18 million to power traser. The program is spread over II groups of farmers who are in 4; program optimization DAK funds funded land, OTSUS and state budget amounting to Rp. 4 million/Ha for planting 340 Ha area and the amount of funds is 1.36 billion, while the program management unit of organic fertilizer derived from the state budget funds a mounting to Rp. 3 million for the development of home composting in three villages.

Abstract

This study aims to get the best production of tubers produced by some sweet potato cultivars grown in natural environmental conditions. The research was conducted in Manokwari using 32 sweet potato cultivars, 30 among of them is local cultivars from various locations, a national cultivars is only Prambanan and one from another is introduction cultivar (SQ). The main limiting factor that is created from this research is the attack of scab disease (Elsinoe batatas), and witches' broom disease. However, the results showed that in some local cultivars from Papua did not show any attack of scab disease (Elsinoe batatas). Another limiting factor is the growing environment of plants. Most of the research materials  which from the highlands, then even if not attacked by scab disease (Elsinoe batatas) is also did not show the results of the tubers

Abstract

Bivalves is one class of the phylum Mollusca and is one of the non-living resources of fish that have high diversity. Research on "Diversity bivalves coastal area Payumb in village Samkai Merauke District "from June until  July 2011. This research aim to determine the species diversity of coastal area bivalves Payumb Village Samkai Merauke District. Sampling was taken from three observation stations and each station have been seven replications. The method used is descriptive method. Measurement of physical-chemical parameters of waters carried out directly in the field. Parameters measured include temperature, salinity, pH and substrate type. The results show as many as 10 species of bivalves, consisting of, 8 families, 4 orders, 1 class and a phylum is Anadara granosa, Anomala, Atrina serrata, Mactra janeiroensis, Mactra sp, Meretrix lusoria, Modiolus philippinarum, Polymesoda expansa, Sanguinolaria nuttali, Solen grandis. The value of diversity index (H') bivalves 0.29 to 0.47, the evenness index (e) bivalves 0.56 to 0.97, and bivalves dominance index value 0.46 to 0.52. Physico-chemical quality of coastal waters Payumb have a value that is still relatively normal. Water temperature 26-28 ° C, salinity 26-27% o, pH 6.6, and the type of substrate is a substrate of mud and sandy mud.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) optimize the availability of feed through the use of byproduct of Sorghum, (2) analyze the content byproduct of Sorghum as ruminants feed, (3) find and compare the quality and quantity of some varieties of byproduct of Sorghum grown in Merauke regency. The research was conducted in the Semangga District of Merauke regency, Papua province. The samples of leaves of three varieties of sorghum were taken by 7 repetition. The methods used were content of ADF and NDF with Van Soest. The data were analyzed by using statistic analysis with SPSS program. The results revealed that byproduct of sorghum is potential as the source of ruminants feed to optimize the availability of forage. The carrying capacity was 1,23 AU/ha. Numbu variety indicates a better results in which the contents of NDF and ADF are higher but they still in accordance with the ruminants. NDF and ADF of Numbu variety (76,89% and 44,87%) significantly increased (P<0,05) was compare to the other variety, but variety Hegari genjah (73,08% and 41,8%) and variety Kawali (72,85% dan 41,38%) decreased (p>0,05).
